Hello everyone.
This month's theme is... Gearhead!
If you want some inspiration, a google image search for 'gearhead' will return some interesting interpretations, but don't forget to check out the beloved Ed Big Daddy Roth!
Post your entries as a reply to this thread, and please limit yourself to one submission. Winners will be announced the first week of September. But remember this... themes can be interpreted in any way that you choose!
Good luck to all. We can't wait to see what you do!

here is my gearhead, ...
founded my inspiration with many caricatures, but offcourse I tried to keep my photorealism style as I like to do this ..
The car was originally a chevy, but in my caricature I changed him to a real convertible sportcar with machineguns on the hood .. ( and yes he's got the official gearhead logo on his rims ) ....
the gearhead is just one wild guy I came up with .. ( my first caricature so I'm happy how it turned out)
hope you guys like it too ;)

I used a mechanical pencil (O.3 mm) for outlining it, a cretacolor nero soft for the black parts and a blending stump to shade some stuff ..

The same here bro, develop the idea, I just posted what I was working on it, and if you can do something better go ahead, maybe we can market the superheroe idea, captain supergearhead, or just supergearhead..

I don't think it sucks. As far as it fitting the topic...if that's how you interpret it, as biomechanical...makes sense to me.

My Entry. Thinking of him as a little mechanic creature that lives in the tool box and can crawl around in the engine and help out...but after his lunch break of course.

Hi everyone,
this is my entry. I came up with this concept of a Frankenstein/cyborg type creature that is basically a man, made up of car parts. I liked how it came out so I am now working on another character of a similar nature. I was so pleased to hear that there was a site like this and that they had contests like the one in the Gnomon Workshop. I will probably color this piece that post it up on my sites. If you're interested in more of my work, check out:

Artina,
I have a somewhat similar concept, but still very different. It basically is incorporating Frankenstein, but not in the same capacity as yours. I just haven't had the time to flesh out my idea. Anyway, you'll see what I mean when I post it. Nice sketch though!

Well here's some thoughts about it, since sketch theater is more about sketching rather thank getting finished illustrations done ,i uploaded the concept art and not a finished picture, it was taken with mobile so the quality isn't that great, also i am 17 years old , check out my youtube page :D : http://www.youtube.com/user/Wolfdale2D

I took a slight different approach on this one, basically this guys sorta a bountyhunter who has no head and operates on the gear he collects and gathers the remains of all different sorts and styles of helmets:mad::cool::eek:
from foes or the fallen he brings them to his shop hangs them on his chains and fixes them up either for himself or to sell to the highest bidder,

I drew it with a black ball pen, my preferred kind of pen.

Heres my drawing..it took me a while to think of something but I finally got it..It hurt so bad while I was brainstorming on a concept that this idea surged. This is the reason why its hard and hurts to think sometimes ,the engine just wont start and wont turn on the lightbulb..
