June, 2010: Excalibur

Hi all...

So this month's theme looks to Arthurian Legend for inspiration. Be it the Knights of the Round Table, the sword in the stone, Lancelot, Guinevere, Camelot... up to you.

I was really excited about doing this one, I call it "Tainted Lake" and the story goes like this......

After the reign of King Arthur and his mighty sword Excalibur, both were laid to rest......Arthur with the grave and Excalibur with the Lady of the Lake and as time went by a new threat swept through corrupting everything in its path and layed a curse on the Lady of the Lake and therefore cursing Excalibur as well

Now it awaits a dark chosen one to wield its power one day.......... :mad:

This is my take on the theme. I was influenced by mad point's piece. I liked the idea and I went with my own twist on it. Hope you like it. Good luck to all.

looks great artina I might actually do mine in straight pencils too if I have time it seems to have a better resolution then pen which is what I did the first in, I hate it when I do a nice piece on paper, but when I scan it in it looks like crap:mad:

Hello. I'm participating after a long time. I decided to go with the sword stuck in a stone in the middle of a forest. The sword looks very ordinary but in my opinion Excalibur was an ordinary sword on the first sight... Its qualities were within it and king Arthur.
It's a sketching contest so I didn't spend hours on it.

I imagined that the excalibur is not just a sword in the stone, but it is a sword kept within a huge ancient sword-like city. The citizen of the excalibur city sworn their life to protect the ancient treasure. Legend has it that the anyone who can break through all the defenses of the city and take the sword will become the king of the land. :)

Soooo this is my submission. Lancelot and Guinevere. The idea stemed from reading about Lancelot's battle and I liked to think that bloodied and beaten he went to Guinevere.I wanted her sadness to be transparent as she's distraught that her lover nearly died in battle but also because she's torn between the man she loves and doing the honorable thing which means staying unhappily married to King Arthur. I hope you guys and gals like!

BTW I never received anything from the last contest placing third for any prize and was just curious as to why, because I contacted the admin and left messages in the forums with no response from the admin in my PM or email and even received a message from a fellow entrant who said he received a message to contact someone, I'm not complaining

but it would be nice to at least receive a message stating something so it could be resolved either through my PM or email and if something was sent I apologize, but I didn't receive anything

Don't get me wrong I am here for the Network, Enjoyment, Creativity, Inspiration and of course Experience and not just for prizes, but they would be nice too if I earned it and you chose my entry

Well I just didn't want this to be a second occurrence for this contest
