I want to go public with my art. How do I do it best? ?

I am a good artist with contemporary and conceptual designs. I live in Rochester, NY and want to show off my work. Should I get a myspace or what? Does anyone know of art shows or art events in my area? Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, Niagra Falls?

make a blog it is the easiest thing to do and a lot of professionals do it, try blogspot (easy to use and customized).
